Day 1 Thursday September 10th 2009

The start of the fifteenth (!) edition of the MER will be - like the 2008 edition - just across the border in the neighboorhoud of Maastricht (Southest part of Holland).

From 10 am you are welcome for the scrutineering, briefing and collection of all the rallyattributes. After a good lunch the first competitor will depart around noon. The first sections of the rally will be pretty “easy going” without any test or regularities, but only tulips and mapreadingsections to get familiar wit the rally. This year there will be four different types of mapreading systems.  Just before the hotel is reached, one timesection has to be driven with an average between 40 km/h and 45 km/h in the Touringclass and an average between 45 km/h and 50 km/h in the Sportingclass.

During the buffet in the evening the classification will be announced and directly published on the bulletinboard in the lobby of the hotel. Also the starting times for the next day will be published there. After the buffet we will all go to the bar together where we can exchange all our stories of the first day and drink a couple of beers with our Mini friends.

The hotel will be in Luxembourg or very close to the border in Germany. We have options at a few hotels and we will let you know as soon as we made a decision. We will stay in that hotel for all three days till Sunday morning, so you don’t have to pack your bags or check-out every day.

Day 2 Friday September 11 th  2009

We will give you a good night rest and at 9am we will start with the second day of the Mini Europe Rally. The Sportingclass will need that good night rest because they will have to tackle a few hard mapreadingsections just to let them know this is not just a holiday..! We are sure you will be impressed with the beautiful roads through the best parts of Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. After a well deserved lunch the second part of the day will continue with some\ tricky mapreadingsections, including a hilarious test. We will return to the hotel pretty early and go on to the dinner directly. Relaxing evening you might think? Definite “yes” for the Touringclass, but the Sportingclass will need to keep their concentration for an eveningloop of approx. 2 hours. Don’t forget your mapreadinglight!

Day 3 Saturday September 12th 2009

The final day of the MER but the classification is far from final yet.. Although the Sportingclass had a hard day yesterday they will need to start quite early. The reason is that at the lunchstop there will be another “Sporting only” section.  After this lunchstop the last section of the rally will not be the longest, but surely not the easiest! Not only mapreadingsections, but another great test is included also. Before we start with the dinner, you will receive a “welcome drink” and will be able to watch your friends finish the Mini Europe Rally 2009.  The prizegiving will be during dinner in short blocks between the courses. After a good night rest we will have breakfast all together and after breakfast everyone can make their own plans. For the Touringclass three relaxing days crossing the most beautiful roads in the area, for the Sportingclass a pretty hard rally but that will make you even more proud in case of a good classification!
